After peeling Tatum off my leg to get her into the pool at the beginning of practice she cried for about 5 minutes. During this time she was suppose to blow bubbles in the water. Instead, she inhaled water and threw up. This was just the beginning to what I thought was going to be a very bad day at swim.
Things did start to get better though. Hiding out like I always do so she doesn't plea for me to "save" her, I was asked to come into the pool area...Tatum had to go to the bathroom...I've heard this before! :) As I walked in I saw a smile instead of tears. Yes! I thought, she did it, she overcame her fear! I grabbed her and we went into the bathroom. Instantly when the door shut, the water works began and so did the pleas..."I don't want to swim anymore! Let's go home, please!!"
When she was done I took her back to the pool and sat her back on the side. She begged me to stay...I told her she would be fine and I walked away. By the time I had reached the door she was done crying. Wow! She stopped so quickly this time.
For the last 5 minutes of class the manager told me I should come over to the window and watch her that she was doing well. When she saw me instead of tears I got a wave and a thumbs up! I was very impressed.
When class was finished her instructor made a huge announcement that Tatum and Travis did an awesome job today at swim. They were receiving a green awesome reward ribbon. Tatum was so excited to get the ribbon, I think it even made her want to come back next week!
