Preschool Jitters

Today was Tatum's 1st day of Preschool. Mrs. Lori, the preschool teacher, is having school just on Fridays over the summer. I think it's a great way for Tatum to get use to the idea of going.

Last night when I told her that she was going to start preschool tomorrow (Friday) she was totally fine with the idea until bedtime. At bedtime she asked me again what we were doing tomorrow and once again I repeated the preschool thing. She said, "Yeah mom just call Mrs. Lori and tell her we can't make it". It was so cute! Needless to say we did "make it" to preschool this morning.

We actually woke up late, but Tatum was in great spirits and very cooperative...thank God! It could have been a very bad morning...

We arrived at Mrs. Lori's a little early so we could check it out together and she wouldn't feel as if I was just rushing out of there. She was doing great...was this going to really be this easy??? It came time for me to leave and no it wasn't that easy! I told Tatum it was time for me to go and she just kept saying just stay a little more mom. As I walked out the door she had big crocodile tears running down her face and she was pretty distressed. :(

3 hours later when I went to pick her up I saw the complete opposite! She was smiling, laughing, and having a great time! Mrs. Lori said she only cried for a few seconds after I left and she was great the rest of the time.

Their lesson today was Humpty Dumpty. She really enjoyed cracking the raw egg and cutting and coloring her Humpty Dumpty.

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day was fun and very relaxing. We had Cody's family over for breakfast and visiting. Later that afternoon we headed over to my parents house for swimming and dinner. Everyone enjoyed the day!

Lil' Cupcake

After finding out about my Pampered Chef Party, Tatum really wanted to have a "cooking" party too. So we decided to have a few friends (mostly our cousins) over for a cupcake decorating party. The night before, we baked 48 cupcakes so they would be ready for decorating the next day. We also have many varieties of icings and candy to put on top.

The day of the party Tatum knew exactly what she wanted to wear...including the shoes. (she really is a girly girl!!)

I had made all the girl's aprons to wear while decorating and I went to Home Depot for the boys and got kid workshop aprons for them. The party was so much fun! The kids enjoyed being able to put whatever they wanted on their cupcakes and they also enjoyed being able to get messy without being told they couldn't.

After the party Tatum was already planning the next one. She enjoyed herself so much!

Memorial Day Memories

Memorial Day weekend was very busy for us this year! We started it off by going to my parents house on Saturday for a BBQ and swimming. Tatum had a blast swimming with grandpa and dad. She played in the water for a good 3-4 hours! She was upset to get out, but once again shivering. We had a great time just hanging out and visiting.

Sunday we went to Cody's parents house once again for a BBQ and Swim. Tatum had a great time in the pool of course and we all had a great time visiting and hanging out with the family.

Monday we went to the Wild Life World Zoo with Travis and his family from swim. The kids had a great time looking at all the animals. (Tatum even overcame some of her fears) It was definitely hot...in fact we all wish we had a pool at this point! After the zoo we went to Grimaldi's Pizza...we were all SOO hungry! The kids did great!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend!

Just like my sister

90 Degree Shivers

Today we went to Thunderbird Park for a play date with our cousins! Tatum had a great time playing with her cousins and playing in the water. It was 90 degrees out, but some how everyone was so cold! The cousins decided they didn't want to play in the water, instead they were happy having snacks and watching everyone else...Tatum on the other hand shivered while she played...it didn't phase her one bit! She absolutely loves the water! It was a great day!

Even Maddie had a great time watching the kids play...at one point she even got her feet in the water a little bit!

El sombrero en la cabeza

Hanging out with Papa!

You don't need a pillow

We were all sitting around watching TV one night when Maddie started "teasing" Tatum. Tatum was trying to get comfortable on the couch with a blanket and pillow...just as she would get all situated, Maddie would come up and pull either the pillow out from underneath Tatum's head or pull her blanket off. When she would do this Maddie would just start laughing! This went on for several times. Tatum was such a great sport about it...she would just get everything back and start over again.

Finally, Tatum decided to "wrestle" with Maddie. They ended up having so much fun playing around together! Cody and I had a great time too just watching them...it really is the first time the two of them have interactively played together!

The perfect wind

A few months ago grandma and grandpa Watkins bought a kite for Tatum and Maddie. We had to wait for the perfect windy day to go fly our kite...it was a long wait, but it finally came! Tatum waited very impatiently for dad to get it out of the box and set it up...she was so excited, but for what she wasn't sure.

Finally, the kite was ready and up it went. Tatum wasn't sure if that's really what she wanted to do with the it. She asked dad to get it down so she could play with it instead.

Maddie and Tatum both were able to fly the kite. It was a great time...once Tatum understood the concept of flying a kite I think she liked it too! :)
